Memory of a Girl

She lies down in solitude
Grasping for the sky
Too frightened to move
Too dead to cry
Once full of promise
So peaceful and light
Now her past on her left
The future, her right
She dreams with her eyes open
In colors of gray
Of things left undone
Of words left to say
Now quiet and still
No sunshine or rain
Just the memory of a girl
No longer in pain
