Away We Go

Falling up into the clouds
hard, fast
so far from the ground
but now I’m falling faster down

mistakes like weights
increasing strength
alive, well
scathed and scarred

in the dark these marks cannot be seen
feeling with intensity
the burning cold that takes ahold
this knife once sharp now has gone dull

away we go
down the windy road that no one knows
through covered eyes I’ve seen the lies
even heard the whispered words

bridges burned and lessons learned
standing still as tables turn
the river flows; still fast and strong

rain falls hard and sun shines bright
day by day and night by night
a constant fight to find the light
though dark sometimes, I find my way
ever stays and I can’t say I’ll keep it company.
